A battle of Vietnam's Robocon 2014
A team of university students in the southern province of Dong Nai will take part in an international robot contest in India this August after winning a national competition on Sunday.
This is the fifth year in a row a team from Lac Hong University claimed the national victory and represents Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU-Robocon).
Another team from Lac Hong won the second place at the national contest, which was attended by more than 160 teams from local universities, colleges, and technical schools.
This year’s international Robocon, to be organized on August 24 in Pune, India, carries the theme of “A salute to the Parenthood.”.
Competitors are required to design one Parent robot (manually controled) and one autonomous Child robot, and operate them to compete in the contest.
The robots of two competitors take part in various game activities like seesaw, pole walk and swing, and which completes the games first is the winner.
Since ABU-Robocon was first held in Japan in 2002, Vietnamese contestants have claimed the grand prix in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
In the contest last year, two Vietnamese teams, both from Lac Hong University, claimed the second and third prize.
