A five-star resort complex in the northern province of Vinh Phuc was listed among the world's top 10 hotels and resorts of 2014 by Designboom, a popular web publication in architecture, design, and art.
The Flamingo Dai Lai Resort, a residential retreat located 50 kilometers from Hanoi, consists of two contrasting buildings both designed by Vietnamese company Vo Trong Nghia Architects – Dai Lai Conference Hall and Bamboo Wing.
The resort complex was planned for city dwellers to enjoy their weekends in a more natural environment, as it is located in the middle of forests between Dai Lai Lake and the surrounding mountains.
Bamboo Wing is the bamboo cantilever structure flying over the sky as bird’s wings. This 12-meter-wide structure, built in 2009, serves as a restaurant and café for the resort complex.
The Dai Lai Conference Hall was built in 2012 for the organization of events and workshops, using bamboo and stone as materials.
The two structures won a number of local and international design awards.
