More investment from private agencies will see Vietnamese tourism post double-digit growth by 2012, leading global market research company RNCOS said in a report March 16.

Vietnam is to mark many important events this year, including the 1,000th anniversary of Hanoi, and many individuals have poured money to have more rooms for visitors, the report said.

According to the report, the country will not only attract more ordinary tourists but MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events) tourism will also develop strongly from this year onwards.

RNCOS ranks Vietnam as one of the favorite destinations in the Asia-Pacific region.

It said in the report that Vietnam tourism has developed "surprisingly" in recent years. The industry accounted for 13 percent of Vietnam's GDP in 2009 despite the economic crisis.
