The Southern Fruit Festival will commence in Ho Chi Minh City's Suoi Tien Cultural Park on June 1-6, featuring all kinds of fruit from the south and other areas.
Accordingly, the event will display 300 unique, giant varieties of fruit from 17 provinces and cities. A plastic arts competition will have over 100 local artisans creating "fruit art". There will also be a high-quality fruit competition.
The event highlight will be a floating fruit market that includes 70 boats carrying 45 varieties, and discounts of up to 40 percent.
The market is expected to open a few days before the festival on May 28th and will remain open during summer vacation days.
On June 1, Children's Day, admission for one adult and one child is free. In addition, pre-registered groups of children will be offered a discount of 50 percent.
The festival originated in 2004 as a local market and has grown into an annual event.
