Vietnam Airlines will begin direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Beijing on December 16.
The country's national air carrier will become the first firm to offer non-stop flights between the two destinations, according to a Wednesday press release.
The national flagship carrier will operate three flights a week on Monday, Thursday and Sunday for the new route, using Airbus 321 aircraft.
Flights will depart from HCMC late in the afternoon and set off from Beijing early in the morning on the next day.
On the occasion of opening the new route, Vietnam Airlines said it will offer the promotional price of VND5.8 million (US$299) on round-trip tickets for passengers departing from HCMC between December 16 and January 31 and booking as of December 31.
The price excludes tax and surcharges.
China is Vietnam's biggest trading partner. Vietnam Airlines already offers direct flights between the capitols (Hanoi and Beijing).
