National carrier Vietnam Airlines will launch non-stop flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and London on December 8.
It will operate four flights a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday on Boeing 777 aircraft. The number will be increased to seven in 2015.
Each flight will take around 12 hours, saving seven hours of transit time.
The launch will increase Vietnam Airlines' non-stop flights to Europe to 29 a week and expand its network to 48 routes.
Passengers will receive a promotion fare of VND20,979,000 (around US$999) for each round-trip from Vietnam between January 1 to March 31.
Trinh Hong Quang, deputy director of Vietnam Airlines, said the opening of the flights will improve the airline's services to Europe and help realize its plan to become a major carrier in the region.
This will be the eighth non-stop route from Vietnam to Europe.
