National carrier Vietnam Airlines said it will halt all flights to and from the central town of Hue for eight months March 20 as the international airport in town needs repairing.
The airline said Phu Bai airport will be closed for runway repairs, so the airline will increase flights to Da Nang, around 90 kilometers away, Tien Phong reported.
It will add seven daily flights between Hanoi and Da Nang, and nine between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang until the end of this month, after which the additional flights will be reduced to only two or three a day.
Customers who already paid for tickets to and from Hue during the pause will be diverted to Da Nang and be exempted from related fees, or they can have a refund, according to the airline.
