The spectacular terraced rice field in Vu Lung Sung village

The Vietnam Records Book Center (Vietkings) has acknowledged a mountain pass and a terraced farm in the northern province of Lao Cai as being of national record size.

O Quy Ho pass is 50 kilometers long and located on National Highway 4D. It crosses the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, connecting Lao Cai and Lai Chau Province.

The terraced rice field in Vu Lung Sung village with 121 steps is more than 100 years old and considered by many to be the most beautiful in Sa Pa.

Lao Cai authorities had urged VietKings to consider three landscapes in the province for records, but only two have been recognized so far.

The other is a terraced rice field spanning the three communes of Lao Chai, Ta Van, and Hau Thao in Muong Hoa valley, which spreads over a total area of 935 hectares.

VietKings will make the records official at a ceremony November 11.
