Winter winds chill the streets, bringing Christmas ambience to Hanoi. Everybody is eager for the upcoming holiday season. In the heart of the city, the Metropole hosts a series of jubilant Yuletide activities. The most outstanding and memorable event at the Metropole, however, is the official launch of the holiday season: the Lighting Ceremony on November 27.
The Lighting Ceremony centers on the Metropole’s famous Christmas tree, a 15-meter pine displayed on Le Balcon du Metropole, as well as over 5,000 glittering lights bringing the building to life. When these magical decorations begin to twinkle in the heart of the city, Hanoians know the festive season is finally upon us. Adjacent to the trees, a stage is set for puppetry.
Each year the Metropole embraces the true Christmas values of giving and this year sees the tradition continue. Continuing the theme of giving, the hotel will showcase its social responsibility by inviting children in need to come and enjoy the ceremony. The orphanages from Birla will enjoy a wonderful Christmas feast, watch a puppet show and sing along with the carolers in what promises to be an unforgettable evening for all.
Then, for the main event, Mr. Franck Lafourcade, hotel’s General Manager, children and guests will be invited onstage to push the button together – and voila! The tree will be illuminated and the magic can begin. The courtyard will be full of merriment and gasps, as golden light washes over the smiling, radiant faces of onlookers.
In the weeks that follow, Metropole guests will be invited to pluck a red wishing card from the Tree of Hope and help make the children’s wishes come true through their donations. For the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, the holiday is a time for generosity and kindness. When gifts come from the heart, the warmth of Christmas brings joy and unity to all who are blessed by it.
Happy holidays from the entire Metropole team!
