The mountainous resort towns of Sapa and Bat Xat in northwestern Vietnam, have experienced their first snow fall this year since early Saturday, with temperatures plummeting to minus two degree Celsius.
Hundreds of tourists headed to the towns to enjoy the sight despite the bad weather that had blocked many main roads to the area.
Luu Minh Hai, head of the province's hydrometeorology center, warned local people to take measures to protect crops and animals and build shelters to protect their livestock against the cold weather.
He added that the snow and heavy rain will continue for the next few days.
