Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City are hoping to cash in with Christmas and New Year parties

The festive season is upon us. With people looking to unwind after a hard year of work, hotels in Ho Chi Minh City are hoping to cash in with Christmas and New Year parties.

Caravelle Hotel has invited the Saigon Children's Charity Choir to perform carols in the lobby from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. every day from December 20 to 25.

It has also announced gala dinners and other music and entertainment shows on Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.

A flute of Taittinger champagne will be served along with Christmas high tea in the lobby lounge from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. until December 23.

On Christmas Eve Nineteen Restaurant will have a dinner gala with a free flow of house wines, one flute of Taittinger champagne, and premium cocktails.

At Reflections Restaurant on the same day there will be a performance by the band Quartet Jazz and a free flute of Taittinger champagne.

If masks and costumes are your thing, Saigon Bar is the place to go during the festive season. Every night from December 24 to 31 it will feature a Carnival as in the Rio Carnival starting at 9 p.m

There will be samba dancers and non-stop music by Cuban bands Luna Negra and Warapo, and partygoers are encouraged to come in their favorite masks and carnival costumes. The Cuban dance band will lead the countdown to the New Year.

At the Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon, the Riverside Café Restaurant on the ground floor will offer special appetizers and traditional Christmas dishes for VND1,239,000++ (excluding drinks) and VND1,659,000++ (including wine, beer, and soft drinks). The party will be from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas day, there will be a barbecue party beside the rooftop swimming pool on the 21st floor. Partygoers can enjoy the magnificent view of the Saigon River at night and live music from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. It is priced at VND1,155,000++ (excluding drinks) and VND1,365,000++ (including wine, beer, and soft drinks).

Hotel Equatorial HCMC will celebrate Christmas and New Year at its two restaurants, Chit Chat and Orientica Seafood Restaurant.

The lunch buffet on December 25 and January 1 will cost VND790,000++ for adults and VND395,000++ for children aged five to 12.

The dinner buffet on December 24 and December 31 will cost VND1,650,000++ and VND780,000++.

Both will include a free flow of wine, beer, soft drinks, and water.

For fans of Chinese food, New World Saigon Hotel is the place to head for.

On Christmas Eve, Parkview Restaurant will serve up a dinner buffet from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for VND1,872,000++.

Dynasty Restaurant will also have a Chinese food buffet from costing VND1,352,000+++.

At the Legend Hotel Saigon, Atrium Café will serve dinner buffets on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve with a free flow of beverages, entertainment shows, and a live performance by Filipino band Infinity by the poolside. The five-member band will play a medley of popular hits and festive favorites into the late hours of Christmas Eve.

Yoshino Restaurant will offer an omakase Christmas menu from December 20 to 25. The Japanese omakase style refers to the chef deciding the food rather than the customer. On New Year's Eve there will be an eight-course dinner and on the first two days of the new year the restaurant will serve a traditional Osechi menu. Osechi is a traditional Japanese New Year food packed in lacquer boxes.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, 2011, Café Rivoli - Hotel Sofitel Saigon Plaza is the place for celebration with a magnificent buffet featuring traditional Christmas dishes, with a vast array of seafood available chilled or cooked to your desire at the

grill station, and the carving station will include  turkey, duck, salmon and beef and marvelously desserts.
