The Easter holiday will kick off a colorful week at Ho Chi Minh City's top restaurants
With nearly six million Catholics in Vietnam, constituting some 7 percent of the 85-million strong population, Easter is no small deal.
To celebrate the myth of Jesus' resurrection, Catholics often hold large feasts across the country to celebrate. Many foreign families in Vietnam also enjoy the warm atmosphere of family meals during Easter, even if they aren't Catholic.
Easter is also a favorite holiday for children who get to decorate colorful Easter eggs, go on Easter egg hunts and eat delicious chocolate Easter Bunnies.
This Easter Sunday is April 4 and many of Ho Chi Minh City's most popular restaurants will offer specials to mark the occasion.
The holiday will be a busy day for chefs at the Parkview Restaurant in New World Hotel Saigon as the cooks prepare a dazzling buffet of lobster, tiger prawns, sweet snails and clams. Pizzas, grilled fish and grilled meat will add to the fete. Traditional Easter dishes will also be available such as grilled leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic or pork with honey and balsamic vinegar.
Customers can also enjoy a dessert buffet with chocolate Easter eggs and other dishes.
