The bathtub of a treatment room at the Nam Hai resort Spa
The spa treatments offered at the Nam Hai resort proved the perfect way to unwind after a big day of walking in the streets of Hoi An Town.
The spa is located in a cluster of bungalows on the banks of a small lake surrounded by coconut trees. From the reception area where I filled out forms regarding my personal health information and preferences for the focus of the massage I would receive, I could see the small lake dotted with purple lilies, which helped put me in the proper frame of mind.
My spa room had a stone floor with a high ceiling. There were also bronze candle holders, bamboo curtains hanging on the lakeside glass walls and a carved wooden panel.
The infused light coming in through the ceiling and carved wooden panels enhanced the relaxing atmosphere of this lakeside spa. It was late afternoon, so the sunlight was not very strong. I asked the massage therapist to keep to curtains up so I could see the reflections of coconut trees and water lilies above the water through the glass wall.
One can choose from this spa's wide selection of different styles of massage from different cultures. There are indulgent Asian rituals, romantic bathing ceremonies, therapeutic massages, and a reviving body polish, of which can be performed in either Vietnamese, Indian, Bali, or Thai massage styles.
As I love such indulgences, I was more impressed with the indulgent Oriental rituals menu. There is the Bali Oriental Ritual (120 minutes and offering aromatherapy foot polish, ancient Balinese massage, choice of body polish and Balinese bath ceremony), the Indian Oriental ritual with an aromatherapy foot treatment, the Ayurvedic Abhyanga massage, and the Marma pressure point head massage with hair masque and herbal steam bath.
As I prefer a gentle massage, I opted for the Vietnam Oriental ritual (150 minutes and priced at VND4,410,000 (around US$210), which included an aromatherapy foot polish, an herbal steam bath, a Vietnamese massage and Thai-style foot reflexology.
The massage was very gentle and smooth, focusing on my shoulders and legs. And the relaxing scent of lemongrass & lemon massage oil on the air enhanced this sensual experience.
The atmosphere was so relaxing that I fell asleep within the first 10 minutes of the massage. When it was over, the therapist awoke me softly to the feeling of being completely refreshed.
