Budget carrier Jetstar Pacific has apologized to the family of a 13-year-old boy who was removed from a flight last Friday because a "technical error" in its system missed the passenger's name.

The airline said it will not allow any similar incidents to happen.

On June 3, Nguyen Vu Gia Huy was told by Jetstar Pacific officers at Da Nang Airport that his name was not in the list of passengers during check-in for the flight from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City.

Huy was traveling with seven relatives, and all of them had bought two-way tickets for the HCMC-Da Nang trip.

Airline officers told Huy that a "technical error" in the system may have missed his name and he must wait for the next flight.

The relatives boarded the plane after failing to persuade the officers that Huy should not be left alone at the airport.

Huy boarded another plane several hours later.
