Authentic German cuisine and beer will be on offer at the Windsor Plaza Hotel in HCMC
Oktoberfest Vietnam is in fact the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia
Oktoberfest, which had its genesis in the wedding of a German prince more than 200 years ago, has grown to become the largest beer party in many countries including Vietnam.
Oktoberfest Vietnam is in fact the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia and acknowledged as a place to be for a truly authentic Oktoberfest experience by media outlets like Reuters and the US's Chicago Tribune. It is also known to be among the 10 largest outside Germany.
Southeast Asia's largest celebration of German culture is back in Ho Chi Minh City, brought by the German Business Association and the Windsor Plaza Hotel in District 5.
This year's party is bound to be bigger, better, and more interesting than ever as it celebrates its 20th birthday in Vietnam from October 5 to 6 and 9 to 13 with German dancing, traditional music, food, and, of course, lots of beer.
The Jade Ballroom on the seventh floor of the Windsor Plaza Hotel will be decked out to rival the traditional beer halls of Munich. There will be plenty of traditional wooden benches for customers, a game area full of fun challenges, and a dance floor for the lively music courtesy of Steirerbluat.
The seven days of night-long festivities promise to attract around 15,000 locals and foreign guests who will savor more than seven tons of traditional German food and 21,000 liters of German beer.
There will be authentic German delicacies like sausages, traditional fat doughy pretzels, salted cabbage, meat carvings, potatoes, and a buffet of choices from Bavaria in southeastern Germany.
Beer is certainly the pride of Germany. Guests will enjoy premium German beers, getting their steins filled with clove-scented Schneider-Weisse and crisp draughts of Krombacher. There will also be fruity schnapps.
The band will keep the party rocking until midnight with hit songs and folk music.
The festival will provide an opportunity for customers to experience German culture and meet Germans living and working in Vietnam.
The event will be held at:
Windsor Plaza Hotel
7th floor, Jade Ballroom
18 An Duong Vuong Street, District 5, HCMC
They can test their wits and strength in German traditional folk games and win valuable gifts from lucky draws.
All will receive a ceramic beer stein as a souvenir.
Tickets will cost VND860,000 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and VND1,100,000 on Friday and Saturday.
