This year's International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE-HCMC) will receive a great increase in the number of international participants, according to a press conference held in the city on Sep 8.
According to organizers, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 347 tour operators, airlines, hotels, tourism service providers, and buyers from 47 countries and territories will join the event.
The meeting is largest-ever tourism conference to take place in Vietnam.
In addition, the 7th ITE-HCMC, to be held from September 14-17 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center with more than 200 booths, will include representatives from 22 provinces and cities nationwide.
Accordingly, the event will feature more than one thousand appointments between buyers and sellers as well as city tours and Mekong Delta tours for both buyers and international media.
Themed "Four countries, one destination", the event will promote multilateral tourism co-operation between Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar with different activities, including a conference on September 13, and the Four Code Tourism Alliance Awards.
The expo will include a conference on potential tourism markets, including America, Japan, and Korea, and a "tourism market" where local and international companies can promote their products to 15,000 individual clients.
Free round-trip bus rides will be provided by the organizers from the downtown area, including September 23rd Park, the Youth Cultural House, the Corner of Pham Ngu Lao and De Tham, to the site in District 7.
Vietnam aims to welcome seven to eight million foreign tourists and 32-35 million local visitors annually by 2020, when the country expects direct tourism income to reach US$10-11 billion per year.
