Authorities in the central province of Quang Nam will invest VND23 billion (US$1.1 million) in equipping the famous tourist town of Hoi An with wireless Internet connection by the year end, Vietnamnet reported Friday.

According to the newswire, 350 Wi-Fi hotspots will be established across the town, mainly at places frequented by tourists, so that both locals and visitors can access Internet for free.

The newswire quoted Ho Quang Buu, director of Quang Nam's Department of Information and Communication, as saying that the money for this initiative would not be taken from the state budget, but raised through contributions from businesses.
