A new outdoor theater will be built in the ancient town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the central province of Quang Nam, reported Tien Phong newspaper on Monday.

According to the project's investor, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 15-VND-billion structure will seat audiences of up to 3,000 for tourism activities and performance art events and will open by 2013.

The theater's architecture is expected to blend in with the traditional surroundings of the unique town.

Hoi An welcomed nearly 1.4 million of tourists over the first half of 2012, up 30.33% compared to last year.
