Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi has become the first in Vietnam to roll out nap pods that allow flyers to get some sleep before boarding the next leg of their trip.
The Vietnam Airlines Tourism Company (VATC) on Tuesday installed 14 sleeping pods, including three single and 11 double pods, at Terminal 1 of the airport.
Each pod covers an area of four square meters and is three meters high. It is equipped with a bed, a drawer, an alarm clock and clothes hangers.
Passengers will be provided with free drinks and light food and can get access to free wifi when they rent the pods.
VATC said three first hours of rent will cost VND210,000 (US$10) for a single pod and VND252,000 ($12) for a double pod. The next three hours will cost VND180,000 ($8) and VND215,000.
Vietnam News Agency reported that VATC is offering a 20-percent discount for passengers who book the pod from July 22 to August 5, adding that VietJet Air passengers may have free access to the pods thanks to the current cooperation between VACT and the airline.
