Twelve expatriates from the Bersa Vietnam company and its partners have embarked on a journey throughout Vietnam on Honda 67 bikes to raise funds for charity.

"The great Honda 67 ride,"  which began on April 10 in Hanoi, is set to end in Ho Chi Minh City on May 1, news website Vietnamnet reported Thursday.

The expats, including both men and women, will go through Hanoi, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Nha Trang, Da Lat, and Phan Thiet.

The program is aimed at raising funds to support a materal and neonatal healthcare improvement project in Quang Nam province's Phu Ninh and Phuoc Son districts.

The motorbikes used in the trip are refurbished Honda 67 bikes.

"Honda 67" is a Vietnamese nickname for the SS50 model or the SS50E model produced by Honda Motors in the 1965-1972 period.

The expats say the bikes are reliable, durable, fuel-efficient and easy to repair, and therefore suitable for a long ride throughout Vietnam.
