The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade is putting together tours to craft villages to mark the city's millennial birthday, which falls this October.

Tourists will visit different villages that specialize in oyster encrusting, embroidery, lacquer, bamboo knitting, silk, pottery, and sculpture as part of the tours.

The tours will begin later this month.

Also to mark the anniversary, the capital's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will promote Hanoi tourism products, both in Vietnam and abroad, during a tourism festival October 2-5, before the official birthday falls October 10.

The exhibitions have attracted 35 tourism agencies from China, Japan, France, South Africa and other countries.

Traditional games and arts including UNESCO heritage cheo and quan ho singing will be featured at the festival.
