Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment launched Tuesday an action program to boost the country’s biodiversity.
The four-year plan envisages setting up three more world-recognized nature reserves and natural heritage sites by 2010 and save 50 percent of disappearing forests and 200,000 hectares of mangrove.
Reserves will be set up nationwide on 1.2 million hectares.
Vietnam has two World Natural Heritage sites – Ha Long Bay in the north and the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in the central Quang Binh province.
