A pair of extremely rare white Bengal tigers, obtained from a South African zoo by a tourism center in the central Vietnamese province of Nghe An, have given birth to two cubs, also white.
Nguyen Si Phong, director of the Trai Bo Tourist Area, told Thanh Nien that the tigress delivered on Wednesday after a 114-day pregnancy.
The animals were obtained in September 2010 when they were one and half years old, Phong said, adding they have adapted well to their half-wild environment.
Five pairs of white Bengal tigers are being kept at zoos and tourist sites across Vietnam, Bui Hong Thuy, director of the Dong Duong Zoo Services Joint-stock Company, said.
White tigers are mainly found in captivity.
