Vietnam's government websites suffered thousands of cyber attacks in the first month of 2015, nearly 20 times the attacks suffered during the entirety of 2014, according to a recent report.
The report, released by the Information Security Department at the Ministry of Information and Communication, claimed the security situation has become “complicated.”
The department recorded 1,129 "defacement" attacks and 2,781 "malware" attacks at government agency websites, Thoi Bao Kinh Te Saigon Online reported.
The numbers represented a major increase over last year, when Vietnam suffered over 5,000 cyber attacks including roughly 200 that targeted government websites, the news website said.
The ministry is drafting a set of instructions to help agencies raise their information security due to hacking.
