A Vietnamese student was caught in Tokyo on Friday for allegedly taking down the website of a retailer which he used to work for.
News website Yahoo Japan said the 21-year-old was arrested after the company selling cell phone accessories complained about a denial-of-service (DDoS) attack that sabotaged its online business.
Police investigation found the suspect had flooded the company’s website with extremely high traffic which went beyond the site’s limit by up to 300 times.
The company said it had to close the website for many weeks as customers could not access it.
The suspect, who is studying at a college in Tokyo, said he used to work for the company and had some conflicts with the people there, police said.
Police said he carried out the attack out of anger.
