NASA's flying observatory: Not a kid's telescope

NASA'S flying observatory lets scientists reach the edge of the atmosphere to look at the stars. The heavily-modified Boeing 747 carries an ultra-powerful telescope that captures images neither satellites in space nor telescopes on the ground can achieve. The program was almost axed due to cuts in NASA's budget, but was salvaged by a $70 million House allocation. Bloomberg looks at NASA's SOFIA.
