A total of 713 websites in Vietnam were targeted by cyber criminals between August 1 and August 7, the national center for computer emergency response reported Thursday.
The report said 357 of them, including 18 websites of Vietnamese government agencies, were defaced. The center, known as VNCERT, believed that hackers based in China had involved in 66 such attacks.
Another 183 websites were targeted by phishing attacks, and the rest were infected with malware, according to VNCERT, which is under the Ministry of Information and Communication.
A report by the ministry's Agency of Information Safety showed that nearly 2,200 websites and more than 1,000 servers in Vietnam were affected by security incidents last month.
