Located on Khau Pha mountain pass in Mu Cang Chai District, De Xu Phinh Commune is one of three localities that boast terraced paddy fields recognized as national heritage sites in Yen Bai.
The commune attracts many tourists in September and October during harvest season, or in June when rains flood the fields, softening their soil in preparation for a new season. Before the rains come, however, local people turn dried rice fields into football stadiums.
