V-League club Dong Tam Long An (DTLA) fired Argentine coach Marcelo Zuletta on Monday after the club's poor recent performance left it in last place.

DTLA suffered a 5-2 home defeat to Binh Duong in the 15th round of V-league play on Sunday and an 8-0 road loss to Song Lam Nghe An in the week before.

The club managers have chosen assistant coach Ngo Quang Sang to take over the reins of the team and the club's former player Phan Van Giau to assist him through the end of the season.

Speaking to Thanh Nien, club manager Vo Thanh Nhiem said: "Marcelo does not fully understand Vietnamese football, so he did not have good strategies for each rival, causing DTLA to suffer heavy losses. We had to terminate the contract with him to make the team play better.

"DTLA managers believe Ngo Quang Sang and Phan Van Giau will help improve the club's situation. There are only seven rounds to go this season, so we won't change the coach again."
