V-League champions Da Nang will play against Bahrain's club Al Riffa for a berth in Asia's second-tier AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Cup semifinals, according to the draw on Tuesday.
Da Nang will play the first leg match against Al Riffa in Bahrain on September 14 and will take on the visitors in the second leg at Chi Lang Stadium in Central Vietnam seven days later.
Upon receiving the news, Da Nang club general manager Bui Xuan Hoa said, "It will be hard for us to face a team from West Asia in the quarters because West Asian players are better-built and stronger than Vietnamese players. We will try our best to advance to the semifinals, though."
According to other results, Muang Thong United from Thailand will play Syria's Al Karamah, who thrashed Binh Duong in the semifinals last year.
Thai Port will clash with Al Qadsia from Kuwait while Syria's Al Iltihad will compete with Kuwaiti club Kazma.
