The Vietnamese Under-19 football team is undertaking a 51-day training trip in Europe during which they will play 15 friendly matches against local squads.
The Vietnamese flew to Europe Saturday and is playing six friendlies in England with the Arsenal, Tottenham and Wimbledon U19s as well as another young team that has not been decided on yet.
They will then fly to the Netherlands to play friendlies with the U19 teams of Ajax Amsterdam, Feyenoord Rotterdam and Eindhoven and the U19 team at the JMG Academy in Belgium.
Vietnam’s U19 team coach Guillaume Graechen said the training trip was a good chance for the players to improve their skills and that they’d have to do their best to make improvements.
“We will make the best use of the chance in Europe to help the players learn from their experiences in every match,” he said.
The trip is expected to cost an estimated US$400,000.
