Vietnamese club Navibank Saigon held Malaysian's Kelantan 0-0 in an away first round match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup Wednesday.

Kelantan are reigning Malaysian champs and again lead the country's top-flight league this year.

The AFC Cup is the continent's second-tier contest behind the AFC Champions League.

But reigning V-League champs Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) suffered a 0-1 home loss Tuesday to another Malaysian club, Terengganu.

SLNA coach Nguyen Huu Thang fielded many of his younger and inexperienced players and paid the price.

But there has also been talk that SLNA do not want to go far in the competition because of a limited budget and small squad size, preferring instead to focus on the V-League.
