The national football team took a 2-0 friendly win against Vicem Hai Phong at Lach Tray Stadium on Saturday in preparation for the 2015 Asian Championship qualifiers.

The coaching staff gave all the players a chance to display their skills in an effort to select the best players for the 2015 team before its home match against the United Arab Emirates on February 6 and going on the road to face Hong Kong on March 22.

The two Vietnamese-Czech players, striker Mac Hong Quan and central fullback Michal Nguyen, each played one half of the match. Nguyen wore Quan's shirt because he left his at home.

Defender Nguyen Gia Tu scored the match's first goal in the final minute of the first half and midfielder Hoang Danh Ngoc added his own in the final minute of the mach.

Afterward, coach Hoang Van Phuc expressed his happiness with the performance of his players, saying "they'd trained together for only four days but they combined well in the match."

Commenting on the performances of the two expats, Coach Phuc said, "They have fit in with the team pretty well. Michal Nguyen was pretty good as a central fullback but Mac Hong Quan will need to improve his positioning."

Speaking to Thanh Nien, Nguyen said, "I was very pleased with the support from around 15,000 spectators. Some players [of the home team Hai Phong] were pretty tough but I was not afraid. I love fierce matches."
