Nguyen Thi Oanh won a gold medal in women’s 200m at the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships 2015 on Tuesday, despite she did not break her best personal record.
The 18-year-old girl from Hanoi finished with 24s02. Her best personal record was 23s91 scored at Vietnam’s National Games in 2014.
“I was very tired for running in the middle of the day. However, I am so glad to win a second gold medal,” she said.
Earlier on September 6, Oanh secured a gold medal in women’s 100m with 11s81, well above 12s02 she got at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in June.
On Tuesday, Luong Van Thao won a bronze medal in men’s 400m with 47s68.
Bui Thi Thu Thao won a gold medal in women’s long jump with 6.48 m, followed by Japan’s Chie Kiriyama with 6.04 m.
Nguyen Van Cong bagged a silver medal with 7.59 m.
Nguyen Thanh Nhan won a bronze medal in high jump with 2.08 m.
Vietnam sent 8 athletes to compete at the event.
They will return home on Wednesday to prepare for the National Track and Field Championships in Ho Chi Minh City from October 9-13.
