The Vietnamese flag was raised in the Olympic Park in London on July 21, marking the participation of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the London Olympic Games 2012.

Representatives of the organizers welcomed and praised Vietnam for winning 18 official berths and wished Vietnamese athletes success at the Games.

Lam Quang Thanh, head of the Vietnamese sports delegation, thanked the organizers and promised that the Vietnamese athletes would do their best, together with international friends, to contribute to the success of the event.

Thanh said there have been several sudden showers in London so Vietnamese coaches asked the athletes to take good care of themselves and not go out unless it is unavoidable.

It is planned that fencer Nguyen Tien Nhat will hold the Vietnamese flag for the Vietnamese delegation at the opening ceremony.
