Vietnamese players won the men's and women's singles titles at the Under-18 Southeast Asian Table-tennis Championships that concluded in the northern province of Hai Duong on Sunday.
Le Tien Dat beat Singapore's Tay Kiat Yi Kerry 4-1 in the men's singles event while Nguyen Thi Viet Linh thrashed Thailand's Rat Tanaporn Rattana Vongra in straight sets in the final.
However, Singapore finished the event atop the medal tally with six gold, two silver and five bronze medals, followed by second-placed Thailand with three gold, seven silver and three bronze medals. Hosts Vietnam were third with two gold, one silver and seven bronze medals.
The 17th edition of the tournament was co-organized by Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Hai Duong Province's Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The five-day contest attracted almost 100 young players from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Vietnam.
