Vietnam won the silver medal in the women's doubles event at the King's Cup Sepak Takraw World Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Friday.

In the group stage of the 25th edition of the event that attracted 22 teams, the Vietnamese women beat Indonesia and Japan in straight sets but lost to Thailand.

In the semifinals, Vietnam beat Myanmar to face Thailand in the finals but again the Vietnamese women lost and had to remain content with the silver.

Vietnam has a good chance to win the gold medal in the women's regu category because their strongest rivals Thailand are not competing.
