Vietnam lost 0-4 to Japan during their second Group C game at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-19 Championship in Shangdong, China on Wednesday.
Their high spirits following a 2-1 win over Jordan two days earlier didn't help the Vietnamese boys stand firm against the superior rivals.
Team coach Trieu Quang Ha warned his players to do their best.
However, the more powerful Japanese squad took the lead after eight minutes and doubled the score right before the break before taking two more goals in the second half.
In addition to its 2-1 victory over the United Arab Emirates, on Monday, Japan topped the group with 6 points and has booked a quarterfinal berth while Vietnam is second with three points.
U.A.E fought to a scoreless tie with Jordan on Wednesday and both are now in the lower half of the group.
The Vietnamese boys will advance to the quarters if they can manage a draw against the U.A.E team in their next game.
