Vietnamese bodybuilders aim to win at least one title at the 2011 Asian Body Building Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand from October 4-7.
The nation's female athletes will also compete at the same time at the Third World Championships that will take place at the same location.
At last year's Asian Bodybuilding Championships in Iran, Pham Van Mach had to settle for the silver, losing to host bodybuilder Ehsan Khajavi Jafarabad in the final contest of the men's 55kg category.
However, Mach avenged that loss by winning the gold medal by beating the Iranian champion at the World Bodybuilding Championships the same year.
Another famous Vietnamese bodybuilder, Nguyen Van Lam, lost to Thai rival Somkhit Sumethowetchakun in the final contest of the men's 65kg event.
This year, young female bodybuilder Duong Thi Hong Ngoc has the potential to upset some big names while the nation's hopes remain pinned on three other senior bodybuilders Nguyen Thi My Linh, Ton Hoang Khanh Lan and Dinh Kim Loan.
Last year, Kim Loan won her third consecutive women's under-50kg title at the Asian Bodybuilding Championships while My Linh took the silver medal in the non-weight category at the world event in Singapore.
