Hosts Vietnam will try to win the the Southeast Asian Futsal 2010 championship, the team's manager said at a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.
Tran Anh Tu said the team's spirits are high after making their way to the finals of the Asian 2010 tournament, so they were aiming to win the Southeast Asian championship that opened Monday.
The host team will compete with Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines.
Tu also noted that "Malaysia and Indonesia are experienced squads and are physically fit."
Malaysian and Indonesian representatives also said that their target was to win the championship, adding that the Vietnamese squad had made a lot of progress recently.
Myanmar has sent a team of young players because they want to prepare the young players for the 27th Southeast Asian Games in 2013 that it will host.
