Vietnamese players won three gold, two silver and two bronze medals at the 24th Golden Paddle tournament, in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

The six-day International Table Tennis competition ended Sunday.

Veitnam finished just one silver medal behind South Korea, whose competitors took three gold and three silver medals.

The Vietnamese players grabbed the gold medals in the men's team, men's double and mixed doubles categories.

The South Koreans placed first in the women's team category, men's singles and women's singles.

The Thais snagged the women's doubles gold medal.

This is the first time that Vietnamese players have won more than two gold medals at the competition. PetroVietnam'S Club got a huge leg-up this year from a trio of Chinese players they had signed on for the tournament.

Kou Lei and Yang Ce teamed up with Vietnam's number one player Kien Quoc to beat the South Korean players 3-1 in the men's team final. Quoc defeated Lee Yung Chon in straight sets while the duo Yang Ce and Yang Xiao Xin defeated the South Korean pair An Su Dong and Kim Nam Hee in straight sets in the mixed doubles final.
