Vietnam’s athletes secured six gold medals at the 8th ASEAN Para Games in Singapore on Saturday with two new records in swimming and weightlifting.
Vo Huynh Anh Khoa broke Games record with 1.01.45 during men's 100m freestyle-S9 at the OCBC Aquatic Center on the biennial event’s second day.
Two other gold medals in swimming were bagged by Tran Quoc Phi in men’s 100m freestyle-S12 and Vo Thanh Tung in men’s 100m freestyle S5.
In weightlifting, Vietnam won three gold medals by Le Van Cong in men’s 54kg-PI, Nguyen Binh An in men’s 54kg-PI and Le Thi Anh Nga in women’s 45kg-PI.
Nguyen Binh An also broke a record with total weight of 175kg.
By late Saturday, Vietnam ranked 4th on the medal tally with 15 gold, 19 silver and 16 bronze medals.
