Hundreds of athletes will compete at the Vietnam Paragliding Open Championship 2014 to be held in the northwestern province of Hoa Binh this weekend, November 1-2.
Practice sessions will be held from October 30-31 at the event’s venue, located in Bai Nha area in the province’s Lac Son District, according to the organizer General Department of Sports and Physical Training.
Pilots will launch from a place 480 meters above sea level and competing for accurate landing at a finish spot 420 meters below.
According to Vu Duy Bong, head of the organizing committee, Vietnam will send five teams to compete at the event from Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City.
“Bai Nha is one of the best places in Vietnam for paragliding which are suitable for both new and experienced paragliders,” he said.
Organizers will grant individual prizes in men and women categories and for the best teams.
Vietnam Paragliding Open Championship was held annually in Hoa Binh in 2012, attracting pilots from many countries in the region. The venue, Hoa Binh’s Lac Son District, is about 130 kilometers (81 miles) from Hanoi.
