Vietnam will clash with Cambodia in the opener of the under-21 international football event in Brunei called the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy at Berakas Stadium on Friday February 24.
In their next Group B match, Vietnam will play Thailand on February 28 before facing Malaysia and and Timor-Leste on second and 4th of March respectively.
The five teams in Group B will fight for two top spots to enter the semifinals while the fight for the best two in Group A will be among hosts Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore and the Philippines.
Vietnam's U-19 team coach Mai Duc Chung said the Vietnam Football Federation has not set a goal of winning a high place at this event because the main purpose is to try and find the best players to prepare for the Asian Football Confederation Under-19 Championship in November.
Chung, said the team will, however, try their best to go as far as possible at the contest, which will close on March 5.
