Vietnam keeps rising in FIFA rankings, now the best in Southeast Asia

Vietnam's national football team advanced one spot in FIFA’s rankings in May and maintained its leading position in Southeast Asia.
The male team now ranks 124th out of 209 countries and territories with 229 points. In Southeast Asia, it is followed by the Philippines, at number 137 globally with 200 points.
Thailand, who will play against Vietnam at World Cup 2018’s Group F qualifying round on May 24, is the third best in Southeast Asia, ranking 142th with 183 points.
The other teams in Group F are Iraq, Indonesia and Taiwan.
In Asia, Vietnam ranks 14th while the top places belong to Iran, Japan and South Korea.
Vietnam will play against North Korea at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium on May 17 in a friendly match that will affect its FIFA ranking.
Globally, there has been no change in the top ten this month, with Germany leads the scoreboard with 1,687 points, followed by Argentina, Belgium, Columbia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, Uruguay, Switzerland and Spain.
