Two days after beating Japan, Vietnam beat South Korea 3-2 in Kazakhstan on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Women's Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup.
The match was almost a replay of the one against Japan. The stronger Koreans always took the lead and won the first and third sets before the Vietnamese women won the second and fourth sets before winning the decider.
This is the first time the Vietnamese women have advanced to the last four of the Women's AVC Cup.
In the semis, they will clash with arch rivals Thailand, who took a rapid straight set win over Iran in the quarterfinals. The other semifinal match will be between hosts Kazakhstan and China who beat Japan and Taipei respectively.
