Vietnam hammered Macau 7-1 in the second leg match in Macau on Sunday, following up on the 6-0 thrashing it administered in the first leg of the World Cup Qualifying round four days earlier.
Vietnam's number one striker Le Cong Vinh, who scored a hattrick in the first leg at Ho Chi Minh City's Thong Nhat Stadium four days earlier, went one better by scoring four goals -- two in each half.
The Vietnamese footballers finished the first half leading by four goals to nil. They slowed down in the second half, allowing Macau's Leong Ka Hang to pull one back for the hosts 15 minutes after the break.
However, Vietnam continued to attack and found the net three times in the final minutes to take a big away win.
The win takes Vietnam to the second qualifying round to a clash with Qatar in an away match on July 23 before taking on the West Asians at Hanoi's My Dinh Stadium five days later.
