Vietnam crushed Kyrgyzstan 12-0 in their second Group C match of the 2014 AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifiers in Bahrain, and leads the group now with 6 points.
The Vietnamese women clearly looked the superior team right at the beginning and the opener was just two minutes in coming, striker Minh Nguyet finding the net with ease.
Center back Ngoc Anh made it 2-0 four minutes later before Minh Nguyet, who also scored the opener in the 8-0 win over hosts Bahrain in the first match, scored a hat-trick, netting the third and fifth goals. The fourth goal was scored by left back Nguyen Thi Xuyen.
Vietnam went into half-time leading 7 to nil. After the break, coach Chen Yun Fat replaced Minh Nguyet with young striker Huynh Nhu, choosing to save the leading striker for an important game on Sunday against Hong Kong, who also have the same six points as Vietnam after beating Kyrgyzstan 2-1 and Bahrain 3-1, but are in second place behind Vietnam on goal difference.
Five more goals were scored in the second half against hapless Kyrgyzstan, with strikers Nguyen Thi Hoa and Huynh Nhu each scoring a brace in this match.
In the next game, Vietnam will only need to draw with Hong Kong to book a berth at 2014 AFC Women's Asian Cup.
