Vietnam held a ceremony at the Hanoi Opera Theater on Sunday to see off players and athletes heading for Indonesia to participate in the 26th South East Asian Games from November 11 till 22.
Contingent manager Lam Quang Thanh said the players, coaching staff and management would do their utmost to achieve the best possible results.
Hoang Tuan Anh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, exhorted the players and coaching staff to finish the event among the leading teams at the event.
The contest will have 608 athletes participating in 37 events, vying for more than 70 gold medals.
On behalf of the Vietnamese contestants, Wushu martial artist Nguyen Thanh Tung, who won gold in the men's tai chi sword event at the World Wushu Championships in Ankara, Turkey on October 14, vowed to do their best at the competition.
The November 11-22 SEA Games will take place in Jakarta and Palembang. The men's football event will start its group stage matches on Thursday October 3. Vietnam's Under-23 national football team will play the Philippines in the opener.
