Vietnam football: Defending champs claw their way up to 4th place

Song Lam Nghe An, the reigning champions of the Vietnamese league, jumped three places to fourth after a 2-0 away win over Ninh Binh in the 11th round Monday.

Ninh Binh were expected to be very strong after their 2-0 win over the league leaders Saigon FC last week, but put up a disappointing show and went down one place to seventh in the V-League.

Hanoi FC were held to a 1-1 home draw by Navibank Saigon.

On Sunday the 2007-08 champs Binh Duong moved up to second with a 1-0 away victory over leaders Saigon FC, who fell to third.

Mekong Delta representatives Dong Thap were held to a 3-3 draw at home by 2009 champs Da Nang.

Hanoi T&T, the 2010 champs, moved to the top spot on Friday with 20 points after drawing 0-0 away with 2003-04 champs Hoang Anh Gia Lai, who slid to sixth.

Khanh Hoa lost 0-1 at home to Thanh Hoa.

Hai Phong remain rooted to the bottom with six points after a 0-1 away loss to Kien Giang, who are just above them.
